“Beginning March 02′ I decided to change all thermal transfer systems to SLFi… synthetic HTF fluid and do away with Paratherm NF fluid that had been used for the past 10 years.
Severe carbonizing, fluid consumption, downtime maintenance, and a definite fire hazard convinced me to make the change. Change out of all 3 fluid systems was accomplished by the end of May ’02. After change out 275 tote of SLFi… HTF fluid was purchased for all 3 systems for backup. 10 years later consumption is 2.5 barrels of HTF fluid, downtime boiler temperatures is not an issue, and there is not a fire hazard. We have lowered boiler temperatures and are maintaining the same rate of heat transfer in all systems. Less wear and tear on each system! Used oil sampling has been taken monthly. Tan is below .04 each system. Flash points, fire points are consistent with published data. System are operating well below auto ignition temperatures, and no evidence of cracking has been experienced. Expansion Tanks are clean of buildups. I am completely satisfied with results of this product so far and highly recommend it to Cook Plant in the ConAgra-Pilgrim’s Pride, and Foster Farms Facilities.”
